Dr. Mazlina Mazlan

Dr. Mazlina Mazlan is a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Malaya and a Consultant Rehabilitation Physician specializing in neurorehabilitation. Her focus is on helping individuals with acquired brain injury, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain tumors, and infections. She graduated from the University of Malaya and completed her specialization training there, followed by a clinical Fellowship in Brain Injury Rehabilitation at Epworth Rehabilitation, Melbourne. Dr. Mazlina has supervised over 60 postgraduate students in various medical fields and serves as an examiner for master's and doctoral candidates at universities across Malaysia.

In 2019, Dr. Mazlina obtained Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) certification from Harvard Medical School. Since then, she has incorporated neuromodulation interventions, particularly TMS, into her practice, treating nearly 90 patients with conditions like motor paralysis, aphasia, cognitive impairments, and neuropathic pain. She also collaborates with psychiatrists to provide TMS treatment for patients with Major Depressive Disorder.

As the immediate past Chairperson of the National Conjoint Board for Rehabilitation Medicine Clinical Post-graduate Studies, the current lead of the Non-invasive Brain Stimulation (NIBS) Working Group within the Malaysian Association of Rehabilitation Physicians, and the Head of Rehabilitation Medicine Department at Malaysia's largest teaching hospital, Dr. Mazlina is at the forefront of developing a comprehensive NIBS program within the medical curriculum and clinical practice. This initiative aims to foster collaboration between rehabilitation physicians, psychiatrists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons to establish standardized guidelines and gain approval from the Malaysian Medical Council for TMS treatment across the nation.
